Question Glasgow Highlanders, Black Watch

I have had this badge for several years, it came with one loop missing and I have no idea as to when it was made or when it was worn if ever.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what this is?

Rob

Rob,

Did you see the posts from 2016 in your original thread https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...landers&page=2 ?

If that's is original, the quality is terrible. IMO

Cool Black Watch / HLI

This is a badge that has never been fully identified, sorry that I have posted it yet again, but as this forum has new members joining on a regular basis the chances are hopefully that someone will have an idea as to it's origins.

As for it's quality, it came with one loop broken off and is not a brilliant strike, however, when in a conversation with the late Hugh King he expressed an interest in it, he obviously knew more than I did . . !

I have had two of these over the past 20 years, not good quality but I assume a manufacturer's error.

I would think you are correct in saying it's a manufacturers error, especially as you have had two of these in the past.

Many thanks Rob

There are 3 options:

1. It's a WW1 re-cut die (wrongly cut) issued to meet shortages just like the 3 tower Suffolks, long key Northants etc.

2, It was commercially made at the time but not officially recognised.

3. Its an early fake.
