Any help from R A F collectors appreciated. Recent purchase as heading. As well as S R N / S E N. does the above school include the training of dental nurses. ???
Therefore may fit in with my t r I services dental badges ,but purchased the badge as I liked the design

There are specialist Dental Branch badges which were worn in pairs on the lapels, and a Dental Hygienist badge to look out for

The RAF Nurse Training School would have trained State Registered Nurses and State Enrolled Nurses but not dental nurses/hygenists.

RAF Halton
Quote:
Training of Dental Orderlies was relocated from Halton to Sidmouth during World War II but returned in 1945, becoming the Dental Training Establishment in 1951. The RAF Institute of Dental Health and Training, which saw the consolidation of dental training for nurses, hygienists and technicians at Halton, in addition to housing clinical advisers, was born in 1976. The Institute existed until the formation of the Defence Dental Agency in 1996, when training became tri-Service.

Found an article from the BDJ that is interesting :

Quote:
Squadron Leader James Smith was largely responsible for the training along with a young RAF volunteer reserve dentist, Flight Lieutenant Gerald Leatherman, who led the move of the school of dental hygienist training to the RAF Dental Training Establishment Halton in 1945
How dental hygienists got off to a flying start
