Canadian badges for inspection!
I have collected Canadian badges for some time and whilst in the process of re-carding came across some twenty plus badges that I had not recorded in my notes, where these badges came from I am not sure, possibly in a collection(s) I have bought in the past from auctions.
On further inspection some of these look very newly made and I would appreciate Canadian badge collectors thoughts on these items. Royal Hamilton Light Infantry KC Bimetal Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada KC W/metal 8th Princess Louise's Hussars G/m Duke of Connaughts Own Rifles, W/metal I will add a few more in the future for your thoughts, thanks for looking. Not a Canadian badge collector, but, if I were a betting man I’d lay odds on them all being genuine despite the ‘newly made’ appearance.
Let’s see what they say. |

Canadian badges
Luke, I think you are or hope you are correct, Canadian badges do vary in manufacturing processes and some of the badges I have which are post 1952 have sliders soldered on using lead solder as opposed to braze, needless to say they do not seem so secure as do brazed ones.
Quite where these originated I am not sure, as I said earlier probably in a job lot. Rob |

I'd be suspicious of the 8th PLNBH. They are being faked in the UK.

Despite Phil's misgivings, all look good. The RHLI badge is a bit scarcer. That unit was amalgamated with the Wentworth Regt, and elements of their badge were incorporated in the design circa 1939.

From my experience in repairing Canadian badges a lot seem to be assembled using soft solder if not pinned , later QC badges seemed have a large foot sliders and soft solder.
