Default Puggaree flash

Can anyone tell me what this flash represents please?

It's on a pith helmet I bought blind as RAF. Clearly it isn't that but I haven't a clue what it is. Some have suggested RFC but I'm not sure.

These silk/rayon flashes are post ww1. They tend to appear mostly in the late 1930s and apparently many color combos were conceived and made up, but not widely worn and not identifiable, as regiments in foreign stations usually had their own different flashes locally made. They are most commonly seen on Corps or other such larger unit helmets if at all. Yours appears to be dark blue with a scarlet stripe, which I do not know, but it is not RAF.

A beautiful item that has seen plenty of action. Looks like Guards to me.

Thanks all for the advice.

I don't know the date of the helmet, this is a new area for me.

Agree that Guards/Household Division seems most likely.

I would not be so quick to attribute it to Guards/Household. There is no photo graphic evidence to substantiate this at all.

A picture of the underside/ interior would allow it to be broadly dated

As Simon says not Guards, Guards would be horizontally mounted.
