Default 12th Lancers

Gents, I purchased this badge in the gift shop at the South African memorial at Delville Wood in France many years ago.

I cant make my mind up if its a very tarnished 1916 economy example or an OSD, actually from a much later period as it doesnt have blades. It does appear to be in two parts.

Any thoughts chaps?

Whatever metal or finish I’m afraid the underlying fact is it is a product of the Marsh catalogue fake die.

To tell what the underlying metal is would require some invasive methods, acetone etc. which would strip off any artificial ageing or modern paints / bronze wash.
