for you Aussies
There is a badge on ebay now obviously a Navy badge with the rising sun above the anchor. Is that a RAN badge? I didn't get the item number. Ray

Ray,
I doubt it very much. The "Rising Sun" or Australian General Service Badge is an Army badge not an RAN badge. Cheers Chris |

Yes the rising sun I've had before & is a very common army badge however this was a regular metal Navy badge wth the rising sun above the anchor. Just curious. Ray

Possibly a Returned from Active Service badge???
Hard to say though without looking at it. Mick |

Mick,
That was my initial reaction but not seeing the badge makes it impossible to identify. Ray, The Returned from Active Service badge is a bronze lapel badge with the rising sun as the background and a naval anchors and wings superimposed on it - or at least mine is. The very early badges might not have the wings as the RAAF wasn't created until 1922, being a branch of the Army up until that time. Cheers Chris |

Aussie Service Badge
Here is my Australian War Service Badge. The number on the reverse is 48791. These medals are named to V10722 L.J. Foley.
I believe this is the badge being refereed to. Sorry for the poor images, my camera is on the fritz and my scanner hates things in frames behind glass. From the description of this badge being Bronze? I have to wonder about this one. It does not have the typical bronze finish.
