Possible French patch
Can anyone tell me what this patch is, please. From its construction, it looks French to me. I would be grateful if anyone could confirm that it is French military, and what Unit wears it.

Looks French to me and in Foreign Legion colours, but I can’t help with the precise unit..

Thanks for the comment, Colin. I'm pleased that I'm not the only one who thinks it looks French. I can only hope someone does recognise it and post a reply on here.

WW2 236th Pioneer Corps Company.
The soldiers of this company were former members of the French Foreign Legion, hence the colours, who had chosen to fight with the Allies. A nice formation sign and one I would be happy to have in my collection. Well done Paul Last edited by 3battalion; 02-07-21 at 06:31 AM. Reason: additional information. |

Many thanks for the information, Paul. I am delighted that it is British and for a Pioneer Coy. I see that it was formed from French volunteers, so I can perhaps be forgiven for thinking it was French!
