Irish Guards or 4th Royal Irish Dragoon Guards
Can anyone help me - I want to get this absolutely right?
This pair of badges came to me from a reputable collector as an early Irish Guards pair of Officers Saddle Cloth Badges. Could this be so? The Guelphic (or cavalry) Crown was used during the reign of Queen Victoria....So the window of opportunity for this to belong to the Irish Guards is April 1900 to January 1901. I would appreciate your learned thoughts and opinions. Best, Sean As per forum rules,I am looking to sell this item in the near future).

Hi Andy, (I’ve been told) upon formation of the Regiment that they ‘lifted/ borrowed’ badges from wherever they could get their hands on them. Using this Vicky era crown wouldn’t be too far out IMO.
Best, Sean
