Some would have been struck in a die (for quantities) but they could also have been hand-sawn and engraved from sheet gold or silver with the stones/ enamel added.
They also used "templates" made from very thin brass or nickel silver sheet that could be laid over the material of choice, the shape scribed onto the surface and then cut out. Look at some of the art deco jewellery done by "high end" jewellers to see what the end result could look like. Try getting that done these days for a reasonable price! |
