MARIST BROTHERS CADET CORPS SOUTH AFRICA
In Bloomer's book Scottish Regimental Badges 1793-1971. There is a WM Marist Brothers Cadet Corps badge #518. Anyone know in which city this cadet corps was based ?
I've got a Marist Brothers College Cadet Corps Uitenhage badge, this badge has a shamrock wreath as part of the design and is very Irish looking. What is the reason for these Marist Brothers Scottish Irish badges ? |

Like Irishhorse, I have always wondered who the Marist Brothers were after seeing the reference to them in Bloomer.
I had rather hoped someone on the Forum might have responded but as no one has so far, here are some links to some information about them; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marist_Brothers http://www.scc.co.za/downloads/Standing%20Tall%2003.pdf P.B.

Thank you P.B., most interesting. In the one picture you can clearly see the SA Universal Cadet Badge. This is the first picture I have seen with it in. Regards Andrew

There is a sketch of the button in the Docufiles of the IUCC, a defunct button collectors club.
It has the title in a band, in the centre is a monogram M.A. above a small scroll with text. |
