Syria and Iraq grouping?
Dear all,
Once again, some confirmations I would need, due to my lack of knowledge. Could you please help me to identify those groupings? 1/ IRAQ / SYRIA? 2/ SYRIA? Cheers, A Last edited by AATTV; 26-02-21 at 03:24 PM. |

Dear Graham,
Noted, thank you. The other ones with similar construction should be Syrian also. Kind regards, A |

Nice stuff again, I find it difficult to accurately identify
1. Green crossed swords badge is Syrian army, been used for many years, I think that type is a fatigue hat badge, clothe versions are worn on the shoulder. 2. Red and black is a Al Fatah branch of the PLO commando badge – if that doesn’t fit in your collection please let me know. 3. 4 Hawk of Quraish with three stars I believe are Syrian 4. 4 Hawk of Quraish, Syrian but different time period 5. Wings patch, my guess is Syrian 6. The winged badge parachute instructor, again looks Syrian 7. Black board, these are should rank insignia, I think Iraqi 8. The eagle of Saladin three start badge I think is Iraqi 9. The six badges with the back at the bottom are all Syrian arm of service lapel badges, left to right, Guess - Mechanized, Artillery, Infantry, Armor, don’t know, Syrian Army may more generic 10. The two with the eagle are I believe Syrian, arm of service, Air Force?, the crossed flags Syrian or Iraqi 11. Syrian. The left one I think is the smaller version of the cap badge (for Privates), the star is a shoulder rank pip. The other group, The Eagle badges are United Arab Republic, cap badges – which pretty much mean Egypt, as the Syrian never adopted the badge. Size and enamel are rank variables, I have it written down somewhere, I’ll check. The button is UAR The top airborne badge is Syrian, but I don’t; know the unit The second is Parachute Wings, 4th Armoured Division, should have a image of Assad in the oval |
