Unknown East Kent - Buffs badge?
Hello,
Can anyone this badge please. Looks very much like East Kent Buffs but what for? It has a single large, strong and long central loop. Typical Victorian quality. Thinking for the FS cap, mid/late 1890's prior to standard cap badge being adopted. Not my collecting theme so will be available when identified. thanks in advance

Looks like the centre of a SWB helmet plate centre.

Neil,
That has just reminded me to look in K&K and you are right in that it is identical to a HPC, but not for the Buffs, but for the South Wales Borderers. It was practice to wear the central device from a HPC on the newly introduced FSC before the 1898 standardised cap badges appeared, so I am confident now that this is an early SWB badge worn on the FSC. Thanks for the prompt. regards
