Just thought I would add my picture here, being delighted with this photo, taken today, poor light, dark clouds and rain outside (normal July weather) - which are good conditions for my photo technique.

almost unvoided crown with old polish! scrub it with the old toothbrush?... not on your nelly!

my first gun badge to be added to my collection, inspired by this thread. no ebay for this fella, came in a biscuit tin full of badges from a medal auction house..."badges not their thing"...I knew that by the number of restrikes in there, but there were some nuggets too...

also have a small group of miscellaneous stuff from ebay to arrive that has a humble RFA KC officers s.d. in it, fingers crossed it's going to be in as good condition as my HAC badge, and then I will have two

Default DEMS Defensively Equipped Merchant Ships

Salut Jeanpit,

DEMS was Defensively Equipped Merchant Ships. Personnel were attached to the RA Maritime Regiment a large WWII organisation of about 15.000 men mostly gunners who were embarked in Merchant ships to serve some defensive weapons. The badge is scarce and made like the Royal Navy non substantive badge pattern. Here is a picture of one of these badges.

A "Frenchy" myself, it is the first time I speak in English with another "Frenchy" since I went to school and spluttered some words to my late English teacher!!!

Salutations
J-F

Default Artillery cap & beret badges

Well that was certainly a treat running through those Arty badges! Now I'm alerted to even more varieties! As the first letter in the thread says, "Just how many could we come up with?" I could certainly add a few when I figure out how to do it.

Sorry to continue off thread, but I was not allowed to even take O level french because in the "mocks" I got 5% with the comment " Dreadful"

I have to admit being a little embarrassed that so many of our members are bi lingual

You're embarrassed P.B....... imagine how I feel, my x2 youngest have been going to local schools here for the last 10 years and my lad (19) can fluently speak and read/write in x4 bl..dy languages...... when I was at school in Brecon,
it was either Welsh or additional technical subjects. Join the club mate.

What a wealth of information in the preceding pages, when I get a bit more conversant with being able to navigate here I would like to offer some more Artillery badge pics.
