Default KSLI Beret badges and collar.

Hi,
Two KSLI Beret badges, one with 24mm gaunt mark which I believe to be good (shown here for comparison)
but what about the brass version, was there ever a brass beret sized badge ? Also could anybody date the collar, if it is indeed genuine.
Regards, Jim

Churchill states "1887 up to 1951, it was not worn during WW1 or the period after whilst the regiment was in Aden "

Cool KSLI in Gilding metal

There was a beret badge in bi-metal which is a smaller version of the larger original cap badge, I have never seen an all brass version.

The text says that the collar badge wasnt worn 1914-1918 during WW1,the regt then went to Aden in 1919. Which ever uniform was worn then didnt have collar badges. So for however long they were there the collar wasnt worn.

Hi Rob,
Both badges shown are beret size badges. I believe the first to be original, but I could find no information on an all brass version, hence why I posted them here. Has anyone else seen or have an all brass beret sized KSLI beret badge? Thanks Mike for the information regarding when the collar was and was not worn. Is there anybody who has this version of collar ? I would like to try and put a date to it if possible.
Regards, Jim.

The Somerset Light Infantry were wearing the smaller size cap badge prior to WWII long before British Infantry wore berets, quite why this was I have never found out but I would be interested to know.
