Best Way to Remove Odor from a Patch
Gentlemen, I have received a nice patch, but it has a musty odor to it, and I am afraid to put it in the display case with other patches for fear the odor will spread.
What do you all recommend to remove the musty odor? Thanks, Terry |

Try putting it your freezer/icebox for a couple of days. Not sure about odour removal but should kill any moth larvae which might be lurking.

I've had success by placing a cloth badge in an air tight container with cat litter inside, and leaving it for at least a week. The clay in the litter acts as an absorbent to remove odours, and poses no harm to the fabric. Good luck!

Thank you gentlemen, Some good tips to try. I have a friend who has cats so will ask her if I might borrow a little.

Bicarbonate of soda (Backing soda) will also remove odours. Pour some in a container, place badge next to container and cover both together. Leave for a week. The odours should be gone after that.

You`ll find out how good a friend they are depending on whether the cat litter is fresh out of the bag or used!

Hi guys
The other thing to try is vanilla, put a small amount into some water, place some mesh or similar on top of the container and leave it for a day or 2, that way it wont get wet. It will also get the stink out of refrigerator. Good luck. phil. |
