CanLoan tunic
A very obvious error here. Described as a CanLoan officer's tunic. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/WW2-Canadian-...item2c91c93fd5

When you don't know what you have just make up a story.... seems to work for other sellers

Very scarce. I can't think of many sergeants who were Canloan officers.

I see the listing has ended. I really have to STOP checking these links out. I find the over-sized font of the descriptions plays havoc with my eyes as on my laptop, they are partly overlapped and very difficult to read.

I am pretty sure he spies or has "spies" around and probably has one on here.
The tunic raised a ton of questions. As far as I know the CanLoan officers were all assigned to British regiments or corps. I am not even sure what a tunic with the nationality title and the 2nd Army patch would represent. Too ambiguous to represent any specific CanLoan officer.

Just noticed that he only indicated infantry officers were CanLoan. I guess RCOC don't count.

The seller always has a selection of high end items for sale, though

I think you are right Bill, all of the items he lists that take to much heat for being total fantasy pieces get pulled.
The seller hurts him self with listing so many questionable items that if he ever sells a good one I still would not touch it out of principal and always thinking it is pieced together. |

He still has the tunic listed as Canloan. He seems to have completey lost the plot.

Parsing the tunic, there are some issues with it as well.

Bill,
In some of his earlier ebay listings, the seller mentioned that he purchased many of these items from the estate of a very large collection. A few of the items he had listed I have seen in a collection that I know of, so I feel he is being above board in that manner. I didn’t realize that there were any CANLOAN NCO’s? I do agree that it’s too coincidental that some of the discussions on here have triggered some of the moves he has made on ebay. Cheers

Need to be careful, as the discussion is drifting into the integrity of the vendor. The Forum approach is that the insignia need to be discussed not the sellers. The offerings are another question, and should be the focus of discussion. Myapologies for drifting the discussion.
The vendor is one issue. The tunic itself is questionable. First and most important, the CanLoan officer program was officers, not NCO's. Reviewing the list of officers and with who they served, http://www.war-experience.org/canloan/regiments.htm, no officer was assigned to 2 Army HQ or L of C, which is suggested by the patching on the offering. One officer was assigned to AFHQ, but that is a different patch and again as an officer. The insignia combination appears to be incomplete. There needs to be some corps or regimental insignia. CanLoan officers were not un-assigned; they were attached to particular regiments. Someone posted images of CanLoan tunics that are in the possession of the Canadian War Museum and they were all regimentally patched. On another recent thread about questionable tunics it was pointed out that having been in one collection or another did not mean authenticity. We all have seen questionable material in museum collections. The R de Chaudiere tunic at the CWM represented as a D-Day uniform is a glaring example.

It's very rare, only 673 ever made! Everyone knows that CanLoan officers were only issued one tunic each and had to look after it as they would not be issued another
