many thanks for your reply here. Found this in a Dealer's 'Spares Box' amongst several other standard varieties, a long while back, now.So it stood out fairly obviously. The dealer was not aware it was different, so I did'nt tell him. Like youself ,I was aware of it's existence from Wilkinson's book. It has a nice 'bending groove' on the slider & the 'Star' is quite 'sharp', in it's style ,here. I feel you are correct with the reason.The maker's origional mistake here ( Regt's Mottoe not a Battle Honour) & no doubt corrected on later issues, though some obviously survived.
