Kings Rgt Blue Cloth Helmet
Putting this on here for Peter Brydon to assess but happy for your thoughts, a modern Helmet ? no markings on inside that I can see, main Helmet plate looks older than the H.P. centre?
What is a fair price for this? I may have overpaid for this so look forward to your views on what going rate ought to be? All the best billy |

Billy,
It is a fairly modern Kings Regiment musicians helmet, I call the plate on the helmet the second pattern helmet plate as the first pattern had a crudely made plate, made in the Far East, the next pattern had a plate with detachable centre and non voided crown and the final pattern with detachable centre ,had a voided crown much more like a QE2 crown. I have had a number of these helmets over the years, they usually have the mans name they were issued to marked inside. Attached is a picture of me and my daughter taken on the day I bought a couple of helmets and tunics and no, I dont normally wear the items in my collection. My daughter is now 26 so it will give you an idea of how long ago he picture was taken. I no longer collect items post amalgamation of the Kings and Manchester and I cannot remember what the last helmet I sold fetched but as time moves on since the Kings Regiment ceased to exist, I can see these helmets going up in value. I think Simon is on the low side and I think the value is around £200. A picture of the inside of an original other ranks home service pattern helmet is attached for comparison. Peter

A similar helmet (fairly modern with a different lining to the interior and a pointed rather than rounded peak), badged to what I believe is King's Division Band is currently on eBay, starting price of £250.
I mention this purely so that Billy can check any price realised (or not realised) when the auction ends in about an hour. |

The most common of all the band helmets I have 11 to various regiments in my band insignia collection I have the 3 plates to the kings as Peters reply Price would place this as Simon £100 to £150 The last 2 Purchased to the Wessex Reg/vols were under £100
The one on ebay did not sell as over priced in my opinion David Last edited by 49lassiepen; 20-04-17 at 09:24 PM. |
