Help with identifying badges
Hello, here is a money belt that I would like some help to identify badges please. This belt is one of many from my husbands collection and I am hoping to catalogue these for future reference.
I love the fact that these belts have not been stripped down and are perhaps showing where the belt owner may have been. Any additional information regarding belt era etc is welcome Thanks Vanessa MB1.jpg mb2.jpg mb3.jpg mb4.jpg mb5.jpg |

Picture 1 - Royal Artillery arm badge (the gun)
Picture 2 - 17th/21st Lancers motto (skull and crossbones); 2nd pattern Tyneside Scottish (the tips of St. Andrew’s Cross have been clipped). Picture 3 - RAF Medical Services collar (winged staff with intertwined serpents). Picture 4 - white metal light infantry collar badge (the bugle) N.B. its strings have been broken off. Picture 5 - Fife & Forfar Yeomanry (white metal thane & horse badge); RAF Air Gunner arm badge (winged bullet). As for date it’s a mishmash. The Tyneside Scottish cap badge is WW1 circa 1915 however the Air Gunner badge was worn from 1920s to the start of WW2, I believe. I don’t collect arm badges so sure someone will correct me if mistaken. |

The butterfly in the second image may be a "sweetheart" brooch for the British 19th Division.

Hello Vanessa,
Picture 4 The bugle badge with number 23 and the Cicada insect on it looks very interesting. Would you be able to post a closer image of the badge please. Many thanks, Invest

Thank you everyone for your help so far, here is a closer pic of the cicada badge. Didier identified it as 23 Battalion de Chassuers Alpins, which translates as 23rd Alpine Fighter Battalion.(I think)

In the third photo, next to the RAF medic collar badge is the membership badge of the Typographical Association.
