Capricornus question
I've seen a formation sign consisting of a brown Capricornus (half goat half fish) on a blue ground, and attributed to the 23rd (Southern) Corps. However, I can find no published (print or online) references to either the sign or the unit.
Can anyone provide details of when or if the formation existed, and if the sign was actually used? I don't own an example so can't post an illustration, I'm afraid. As ever, thanks in advance for any contributions. |

Badges on Battledress, Vol 2, by Jon Mills shows a printed example on p. 1060, and an embroidered example on p. 1059. Text on p. 1054 records that 23 Corps was abolished in 1955.

The badge in question. As can be seen they came printed and embroidered and also in facing pairs.

Thanks for the replies, gentlemen. Did 23rd Corps exist during WW2?
