Default NORFOLK WOMENS ARMBAND?

Can any Forum member help identify this armband and its unit. I have tried a Google search without success.

Any information, greatly appreciated.

Kind regards, Malcolm.

Probably worn in World War I by Norfolk women who volunteered to work on the land before the creation of an official Women's Land Army in 1917.

Hello Jon.

Many thanks for this. That would be earlier than I was thinking. Probably more interesting than I thought.

Kind regards, Malcolm.

There was one for sale here: http://www.worldmilitarycollectables.com/shop.php
Code: 6588

Described as: 'Printed canvas armband for use by the Norfolk Women's Auxiliary Land Corps. This is one of the many ad hoc organisations set up during WW1 to provide aid to the war effort in this case by women land owners and workers. Their organisation was subsequently taken over by the Government organised Land Army.'

Hi Andrew,

I assume that you mean Neil R. Storey? Is he a member of this forum?

Hello Michael.

No plans at present.

Have enjoyed learning about its history via the kind help received from Forum members.

I have an interest in flying insignia, so perhaps it may be used to trade in the future, after the novelty has worn off!

Kind regards, Malcolm.
