Hi Billy

It looks to be an interesting item of trench art, it looks period made, but it can be hard with these to say when the badge was mounted on it, but it looks fine to me from the pictures.

Any chance of a close up of the badge please Billy?

Are there any other markings?

It will probably have markings on the base to say what date the shell case was? I have seen a similar one in the shape of a bottle which was used as a candle holder.

Still would like a picture of the base or details of markings?? which could confirm year of origin.

From the fuzzy picture the badge looks like one of the fakes doing the rounds now, see Andy's thread http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...l+flying+corps
and i doubt if this was a shell case that it's soldered on to.

The badge is soldered onto a copper made bottle! base is plain "not made from a shell casing" black on inside I would,nt want to drink from it at any rate! has been bashed about so shows age! Badge? some wear could have been rubbed down on a buffing wheel I guess but why bother making the bottle a lot of work has gone into it only for copy to be mounted onto it? mind you thats all they,re fit for really! will take better picyure when camera back thanks for your views cheers billy
