Default Lovat Scouts

Hi All,
Here is a small Lovat Scouts badge, brooched with holding bar attached, for your comments, please.

Would this be worn on the slouch hat with black upright horsehair plume as described in L. Barlow and R.J. Smith's "the Uniforms of the British Yeomanry Force 1794-1914, 8: Lovat Scouts, Scottish Horse"?
Or is it a sweetheart badge adapted from a collar badge?

Thanks, Tinto

It's been double-stamped by the look of it.

Thanks for your comments, Hoot, and Andy,
Rear of badge does show signs of being double-stamped.
Cheers, Tinto

I would say it was a conversion for a lapel 'mufti' badge. Has it been given a gilt wash ? If so then that would suggest a mufti or sweetheart.

Hi Alan,
The badge is shiny and possibly was gilt washed. I am inclined to agree that it is a collar badge converted to a mufti or sweetheart.
Regards, Tinto
