Leicestershire Militia cap badge
Hi all,
Latest addition to my Leicestershire Regiment collection, Leicestershire Militia OSD cap badge. The Leicestershire Militia were the 3rd Battalion and were awarded the harp for service in Ireland in 1798. The OSD badge would have been worn 1902-1908. Lugged east - west and 38x38mm. The silver and gilt version of this badge is a beautiful badge but that one is on the wants list towards the top. Enjoy, Dean. |

its not leicestershire militia its the leicestershire regiments first post 1881 territorial osd badge( not in the TF sense) and worn by all battalions.
the 3rd batt or militia wore it as cap and collar and had a 'M' next to it,the same as most militia. Bob |

Here is another that came up on eBay last year.... loops E/W (one repaired). It looks like the same one..... are the loops N/S or E/W?

Thanks Bob and Griff,
Appreciate the help on this one as was piecing together the notes on collars for TF and militia battalions in Churchill's collar badges book. I posted the rear picture sideways but the lugs are certainly E-W with a repair to the E lug. It is the one you had posted from eBay late last year Griff. I have been in the US so badge was here for my return. I will post another Tiger shortly and again could use a hand identifying thanks. Cheers Dean |
