Default Royal Horse Guards GvR - OSD?

I picked up this little gem on eBay this morning. I am more than happy that it is a good one. The V being the best indicator.
The blades are gone, but it will be going for repair very soon.
Is this an officer's badge or OR's? I know the RHG and later Blues And Royals OR's wore a bronzed badge.
What's the expert opinion?

John

John,
I believe a lot of the early H.Cav badges were bladed for all ranks - Andy

Cheers Andy,
Your album is truly superb. I was just wondering more about the bronze finish than the blades.

John,
Bronze or blackened (Gun Metal) was the standard finish for RHG badges.
