Any thoughts on this cap badge appreciated please, he was in the Kings Liverpools at one time but this is not one of their badges.

The belt suggests TF so maybe a 7th West Yorks? It is a large oval badge but blurred.

Gerard, he was in the 6th Kings ( Liverpool Rifles ) so may be his tunic from that unit but it is not their cap badge.

A high resolution scan of the cap badge would probably give the answer. The picture certainly looks clear enough.

The badge and if ts got one a backing which seems to be of some size and depth from the shadows and as as phil says NDC, but could it be a Helmet plate centre as a stop gap badge if the picture is of the correct earlier part of the war.

Did he spend any time with the 5th (TF) Battalion South Lancashire Regiment (Prince of Wales’s Volunteers)? They were in 55th (West Lancashire) Infantry Division and wore a black cap badge and black buttons. Their badge is more oval but the photo isn’t that clear.
