Default army service corps sweetheart badge

e-bay 180.jpghi i have got this tourtouse shell lappel badge with the words asc in the middle,i have managed to date it to 1917 from the hall marks on the back but cant find anything else out about it can anyone enlighten me and of course is it worth anything.regards paul...also does anyone know what the writting means in the middle as it appears on alot of badges

Assuming that you do not have internet access... by which I mean
you could have looked it up by googling..
Its from the old (as in Knights, chivalry etc) days and literally means:-
'Evil to him who evil thinks'

As far as I know it is part of the Garter (proper). However, I am not an expert in heraldry but I do know that it is the motto of the Order of the Garter, and it appears on many badges as a garter and also the garter belt.
