Default WWI SOUTH AFRICAN SPRINGBOK BADGE

I've noticed the general issue springbok cap badge comes in a number of different sizes, which one was worn during WWI ?

I cannot tell you about all the different sized badges but you may find this helpful:

The cloth you have there is the 9th South African Sportsmans Battalion. It appears to be printed. A very nice find.

All the variations appear to have been worn by the South Africans in the various theaters they served in during World War 1.

There are many variations to the badge and they include silver versions for officers, etc.

The cloth badge was worn on the side of the pith helmet variations that were used in German East Africa.

I have seen group photos of SA soldiers in France showing 3 different sizes in the same unit at the same time. So all variations with the Duych writing. Regards Andrew
