Default My Newest Arrival

Found this on Ebay and got it mainly for the badge, but of course do not plan on removing it. Have no idea of the date, but am very pleased with it.

The NSN (National Stock Number) shown (for size 55) was created 25 April 1991.

NSN = NATO Stock Number

Nationality is shown in the second group - 99 = United Kingdom

Thanks for the link to the NSN Centre

From NSN site :

"Now, both National Stock Number and NATO Stock Number are interchangeable terms for the same Codification System."

I got mixed up and used the American terminology !

Thank you gentlemen,

So am I safe to assume that it is from the early 90's at least?

It looks almost brand new, but having the badge sewn on I am more suspecting it was only worn for dress occasions.

I suppose it would depend on a countries’ NATO membership!!

Perhaps preparing for a future reduced NATO with fewer jobs for Generals etc

Terry,
As you know, it is a QARANC officer’s badged beret. However, the majority of QARANC officers are Reservists (formerly Territorial Army) working day to day in the UK National Health System. An issued beret would be worn infrequently and could last for many years.

Default QARANC

My mob !

Interestingly the beret looks close to the RAF when new and close to the Scots DG when very used !
