Default Forage cap Royal Corps of Signals

I have this forage cap with 1921-1946 pattern badge. The former owner's name is wriiten inside but he buttons are not RCS ones. Is there any explanation ?

They are General Service buttons and quite correct for an OR's cap of this period.

As already stated, in nearly all case OR's headgear had GS buttons, only officers had regimental/corps buttons, and though you do sometimes see them on OR caps, but that is the exception.
