Default Great Grandfather's Collection

Hi all. My great grandfather was killed at La Somme in 1916. Before he passed he collected 100s of British and Canadian cap badges. Some of which I am unable to identify still. I'm hoping someone out there can help me identify them.

This is one of the badges I can't identify: A small brass badge that appears to be a leaping or running greyhound type of dog/animal. Can't find an image online to match it unfortunately. This is a photo I took. Thank you for any help or guidance.

WOW, that was an incredibly fast reply! Thank you so much. I have hundreds of other badges and some that I can't identify still. I will surely be posting a lot of questions going forward!

Hello Robb. Welcome to the forum! If no one has added to the collection it should be a good snapshot of badges in use during you relatives service. For our interest, please post front and back pictures when you post. Can you confirm if you are seeking badge identification for interest or future sale? Regards, Paul. http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...iding+yeomanry

Thanks Paul. It's actually a little of both. My Great Grandfather's personal stuff I will be keeping. I have his badges and buttons, medals, ID bracelet, certificate for having sacrificed in service of King and Country, his pay book, and the bible he was given by his mates when he immigrated to Canada in 1908.
I also have nearly 90 other badges that I am considering selling once I know more about them. The Badge I posted here is one of them.
How could I post what I have to the collections so other people can see them and enjoy them?

Thanks for the images- very nice fox. The other two badges are standard infantry badges of the period- The West Yorkshire Regiment and The Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment). The Yeomanry regiments were less in number and had less men in them and so badges are less common. Infantry regiments could have many battalions with a lot more men in them, so much more common. Regards, Paul.

Hi Robb,
Your great grandfather collected a nice lot of badges, thanks for showing them.
Pictures 143, 144 are for Queen's Own Yorkshire Dragoons.
Pictures 93, 94 are for Royal Canadian Regiment
Cheers, Tinto

Your doing well with IDs. Some good examples in there that are not too common. 4th Northamptonshire very nice condition- often found with a clipped slider. Regards, Paul.
