Default CEF Weekend pass disc

Here is an interesting piece, I myself have never seen one before. A weekend pass disc for the 1st Depot Battalion British Columbia. Made by well known maker O.B. Allen.

Would other regiments have similar brass discs, I always thought that the weekend pass was a paper document.

An interesting item. Whether it was a standard practice, even just among other Vancouver based units, I don't know, but it probably was a good idea to have a simple to use control and accounting measure considering the attraction and accessibility of the fleshpots of downtown Vancouver. Though it wasn't the city it is today, there were probably some fleshpots even in 1917-18.

The initials "H St. J M" on the disc are probably those of the Officer Commanding
