An interesting item. Whether it was a standard practice, even just among other Vancouver based units, I don't know, but it probably was a good idea to have a simple to use control and accounting measure considering the attraction and accessibility of the fleshpots of downtown Vancouver. Though it wasn't the city it is today, there were probably some fleshpots even in 1917-18.
The initials "H St. J M" on the disc are probably those of the Officer Commanding
