Hi Dean

Many thanks for info, I think all Durham items seem to generate a higher price and this is apparently a very rare example so i am told. I won it recently on ebay, the seller said it was a D.L.I. shoulder title from the First World War, it was buy it now for £9.99, see link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251010804949

Best wishes Mike

That's a result Mike well done! I bet that you couldn't believe it when you saw it. Just shows that there are still bargains out there. Thanks for showing.

Andy

Hi again Mike.

Great find, it just goes to show, always have a look at all the Buy now offers at the end of a particular search.

Anyway:

In 1745 Militia of County Durham was raised and in 1853 it was divided into 3 Regiments, 1st (South Durham), 2nd (North Durham) and an Artilley unit.

In 1881 the Noth Durham Militia became 4th Battalion Durham Light Infantry.

Regards

Brian
