I've recently been given this brooch / tie pin made of quality silver. When the Combined Op's insignia was being designed it took many months before the Thompson machine gun was finally chosen to represent the Army symbol. As can be seen the weapon on this brooch is clearly not a Thompson.I have seen(on combined operations.com)a sweethearts brooch with the same 'rifle' across the anchor. These are not cheap items that were knocked up as one -offs so it's a mystery where this design came from.I can only surmise that these were produced before the final design was settled as I can't see them being produced post final design, leave alone anyone wearing them. The other brooch on the Combined Op's site is shown with a set of medal ribbons and the the owner is requiring info' on the family items, which ,I suppose ,gives them some authentication.Anyone know the answer to the conundrum?...... PS the two bomb-like anomolies below the eagle are also a strange addition(may be just extra 'supporting fill-in'
