Yorkshire Reiment
Hi Gents,
Posting these two for opinions. Looking at other posts leaves me concerned with the large void in the coronet and position of the sliders. Thanks Kevin |

Both of these look ok to me also, certainly the right one. The left may be questionable with that slider.

CB,
Once again a very quick and positive reply and yes the left slider does look a little "clumpy". Best wishes Kevin |

Both bad.
Both badges have the diagonal die flaw above the L of ALEXANDRA as seen on the repros and demonstrated here by this fantasy GM badge and very recently made modern fake. All the pictures of The Yorkshire Regiment repro in the Martin Marsh catalogue are fairly poor but going by the shape of the void in the coronet i.e. the very pronounced central bump in the cap, I believe it is this die. |

Could this have been an original die that acquired that flaw?

Could this have been an original die that acquired that flaw? I just examined my examples and none have that flaw, which I have hitherto been unaware of.

I don’t believe so. Look at the ALEXANDRA and 1875 closely, rounded letter ends which is typical of a great many fakes where block lettering should be used.

This particular Pattern was sealed in 1903 but in 1905 the slider was moved from just under the crown down to the cross.
