Real Vs Rotten Tutorial #4 1 Canadian Parachute Battalion printed patches
These are repro. Several things on these are bad. First the colours are off. They are not intense as the colours found on the issue type. The white edge is a give away, the originals are either the inking colour or black. The lettering is too thin and "light" compared to the originals. The font is slightly different and the spacing between the letters is much wider than the originals. (Being these are made using a silk screen printing, that means a different mat was cut to make the repro.) The different screens are not properly registered and there is overlap in the inking leading to a dark "shadow" around the inner side of the border. Sum and total is that these are not original. Not having these in hand I can't comment on the weight and feel, but the ones I have examined previously are heavy and do not have the "sheen" found on the original printed patterns.

At least he does say they are "brand new". Cheers Brian

I have often felt the "brand new" is an insipid euphemism for the word "reproduction", or "fake" as the case may be.

Just this week I had a discussion about these titles with a dealer. He honestly didn't think they were bad. Didn't really want to get into the questions about dealers. There are several vendors offering this pattern on the net, some are upfront others are not. They will make their way around the market and probably gain some "age" and maybe even stitching holes...
Knowing the characteristics of the titles and what is right/wrong should prevent one making an error when purchasing.

I've been lucky in regardsm to the use of the word "new" in the past where I thought I was buying repro, and when the item arrived it was NOS.
