Default Chrome plated or white metal rising sun cap badge

On a hate belt I have recently purchased, beside other cap badges, is to be found a lugged possibly chrome plated Australian Commonwealth Military Forces cap badge. The presence of an Italian shoulder board seems to suggest a North Africa origin of the hate belt, but I ignored that WM or chrome plated cap badges could be worn in the desert: therefore a later addition? What's your advise, gentlemen?

hi loupie
what advise are you after?
looks like a chrome plated badge to me. i wouldnt discount the probability that some of the rising suns were chrome plated during ww2 for nursing staff and alike.

that exactly what I was not aware of: were chrome plated rising suns produced during WWII? and at a relatively early phase, for that, since the Aussies left North Africa in 1942...
