Default 3rd Pattern?

Hello all,
I’m fairly new to collecting, so bare with me if I’m asking obvious questions.
From browsing other posts on this forum... have I assumed correctly, that both these RS’s are 3rd pattern? and how many patterns were/are there?

Collar RS has very faint makers mark, from deciphering some letters I think ‘K G LUKE MELB’

Larger badge. Is this a cap badge? Size: Approx. 45mm high x 61mm wide. Has no makers mark.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Tony

Default Rising sun makers

Dear Tony,
Luke and Stokes (Melb) are the most common RS makers for both world wars. I seem to remember a list of makers published on the Forum many months ago, maybe someone cleverer that I can locate it. Your hat badge is one of the many that were not maker marked. They come in oxid, WM, STGSIL, brass/gilt, and silver/gilt/enam.
Off the top of my head I can remember:
Stokes; Luke; Arendsen; Flavell (Perth); Angus & Coote Sydney (WM collar size for nurses only); General Plastics; British Gaunt 1903 1st pattern; Firmin; Tiptaft; J & Co; Narborough; also a Swiss made WM allegedly for escaped POWs
Hope this is some help.

just to add to kingsleys post, Luke didnt start producing badges until the 1920s so they missed ww1. the badge you show is probably ww2 period

In his book The Australian Army Slouch Hat and Rising Sun Badge
Rick Grebert claims there are seven.

Thanks Donny. It seems 7 is the number. Since posting I came across this great site.
