Nice image Darrell. The fellow wears the plastic pattern cap badge. It must be before May 1944, as that was when 1 Cdn Para received their battalion shoulder titles.

I thought the AIRBORNE CANADA title was only worn by instructors at Rivers MB.

Hi Mike, The Airborne Canada title was approved in late 1942 and came into issue shortly after. It was worn by personnel of 1 Cdn Para Bn and the training centre in Shilo. 1 Cdn Para wore the title when they went overseas, where it was found to be in contravention insignia practices and a new title had to be adopted. They received the 1 Canadian Parachute Battalion printed title shortly before D-Day. Embroidered titles were not available until much later.
