Default Royal Wilts Yeomanry Despatch Rider

Hi Gents,

I thought I would share this lovely WWI postcard of a motor cycle Despatch Rider from the Royal Wilts Yeomanry.

A wonderful personal message to the rear which reads:

(To)
R.W.Y. Forest Row Sussex

Dear Ronald,

As you will see from the other side I am in khaki. I joined up last September for dispatch rider in Royal Wilts Yeomanry. We have been up here in Sussex ever since. Part of the time under canvas & now in wooden huts. Expecting for months to be sent abroad "somewhere" but not off yet. Excuse me for not writing before.

Yours sincerely

G D Lockhead
Lce-Crpl

So nice to actually be able to put a name and some personal details to an image.

Cheers,

Roy

Roy,

Possibly Pte 1040 George D Lockhead Royal Wiltshire Yeomanry and Cpl 148737 Royal Engineers. MIC shows British War and Victory Medals only.

Simon.
