Desert Boots
Couldn't resist this - a reproduction of a 1980's Clarks advertisement from today's Daily Telegraph. Is this genial old Captain wearing RAOC collar badges?

Reminds me of a sterner looking Colonel Rivers-MacPherson RAOC modelling the 'Battle Jerkin' which he designed..

A remarkable similarity! I was thinking of the Controller of the Space Fleet (and Dan Dare's boss) Sir Hubert Guest!

The heading made me dig out these photos of a pair of desert boots that I used to own. Clearly dated 1941 and with soles that look like they came from old tyres, can anyone shed further light on them?
