But....
Not many army badges found on RM Cdo berets with the exception of 24/29Cdo and attached personnel who earned the beret, Im sure there was a hole in RM intelligence up until recently and the Int Corps works/ed closely with them, the shape fits Paul |

Thank you Paul.
I asked because I did not know. I did read a thread on there being a medical badge worn sometimes?

With a Vocab Number 70239 ? and no NSN from the 1960s -1970s and pre metric sizing.
Definitely a Royal Marines Commando beret but with a cloth sewn on badge possibly worn by an Army officer in the RA, RE or Commando Logistic Regiment. Tim

Very Senior Royal Marines Officers, usually Brigadiers and above, also wore 'cloth' badges on their green berets, certainly in my time. Not that I was in the habit of associating with these gentlemen you understand !

24 Cdo RE Cdo and 29 Cdo RA would be manned with attached (army) personnel similar to comparable sized army unit. This I’m sure would include a RAMC Officer, if he completed the All Arms course he would wear the Beret, similar with any other Corps who were on exchange or atttached to a Cdo unit wether 24/29 or RM.
The shape of were the badge was does not suggest to me RA or RE Grenade type wore by Officers, my first thought was Int Corps but RAMC is a good possibility. Paul |

I have brigadier/colonel badges and general and field marshal...in bullion with both crowns. I'll try them for size.

Green beret badge
My first thought was it could be a RLC officer’s beret from the Commando Logistic Regiment but if it’s a 1970s beret it would have to be a RCT or RAOC officer - shape could be RCT but RAMC looks likely too.

My final thought. Is the stitching residue wide enough to have been from a Royal Navy officers embroidered badge as worn by surgeons, schoolies and chaplains in Commando units?
