Good evening. I've had these sat around for many years.. And may be time to move them on.. Can I please ask what value they may individually each hold.

Hello Dave. When and in what position did Deputy Assistant Provost Marshal fit in to RAF Police structure. Sounds odd wording as APM were RAF Police commissioned officers, but I take it to relate to a Deputy to the PM? Regards, Paul.
Just looked at your ebook Dave- was DAPM the direct equivelent of DPM, just a change in title, or is it more complicated? Last edited by wardog; 15-07-21 at 07:53 PM. |

Paul
The rank structure of these arm bands is as follows; Provost Marshal (PM - two types - Air Officer and Group Captain) Deputy Provost Marshal (DPM - actual rank dependent on the PM rank at the time) Assistant Provost Marshal (APM - Other Officer ranks appointed in areas, later to be for all junior Officers) Deputy Assistant Provost Marshal (DAPM - Officers appointed to help the area APM - short lived). R.A.F.P. - worn by other airmen. RAFP - new version now worn by all Officers and other airmen excep for the Provost Marshal, but also worn by the Force Protection Force Commander (Air Officer) Post 2007 with AIR Officer beret badge attached. This is normally a RAF Regiment Officer. Hope this helps Dave Last edited by dragon166; 15-07-21 at 08:06 PM. Reason: added pics |

Hello Dave, so at that time on a large station was the Police OC the only provost officer to use APM, all others DAPM? Things seem to have become less complicated post 1945. Regards, Paul.
Looking at your post again APM for area with one or more deputies as DAPM. Thanks. Last edited by wardog; 15-07-21 at 08:17 PM. |

No Paul. Originally the Station Police came under the authority of the Station Commander. The APM was appointed to a regional area not a station where he was assisted by the DAPM. It wasn't until 1945 that the station Officers became APM and DAPM dispensed with.

Thanks Dave. Only RAFSP on station directly under Station Commander. I must read up on the period. Regards, Paul.
