Colour backing for Yorkshire Regiment HPC
Hi All,
was wondering what colour backing would Victorian HPC have for Yorkshire Regiment ie to put behind centre ? Have seen glengarry badge with black backing, but not sure if that is correct.. Cheers, Mark |

my notes taken from earlier posts on this forum that the standard HPC backing for line regiments- with a long list of exceptions- was black.
Is the premise that the 'Yorkshire Regt' - (i.e. 19th North Riding (Green Howards)- Princess Alexandra’s Yorkshire Regiment (The Green Howards) etc)- would have had a green HPC backing- authorised for some Light infantry- in reference to their historic facing colour and traditional name? I should like to updste my notes. Thanks. |

Apologies for the poor photographs. These were taken at the Green Howards museum a few years ago but clearly show the light green backing to the HPC.
