Royal Northumberland Fusiliers Officers Badge With Slider.
I'm after opinions on this badge please.
Is this the RNF officers badge variation for wear on the cap which has a "special"fitting to take the small slider? Gilded grenade with a white metal Geordie and dragon within motto circlet affixed by two horizontal wires, the slider is of a white metal which has been gilded. It doesn't appear to be a Birmingham Mint badge. |

Have a look at this very long and lively thread.

Looks a good badge to me. There are slidered officers badges out there.

I have another RNF badge which appears to be gilded but I think with the more conventional larger slider, I was never sure whether it was officer's or OR's, I'm inclined to think its the latter but must dig it out & post images. |

Hi, it is an officer's badge, slidered badges were worn by officers of the regiment from 1936 - 1959. See Col Denis Wood's Fifth Fusiliers and its Badges, No 176 (2nd Edn) or No 173 (1st Edn). The retaining frog is also illustrated as No 176A.

Thanks, I thought that was what it was but wasn't sure and didn't know the dates of use - basically for the life of RNF other than the "Brigade" badge period for the Regulars.
