One from my odds and ends drawer. The scale markings are millimetres. The brooch is 18 mm (11/16 inches) tall.

Very Nice I can't make out the Stamp?
What year?
What Metal?
I've seen that Pine end Mechanism on the old ones, from the Great War.
Does the point tip pass the locking Mechanism?
Looks like it needs and cleaning with Coca-Cola

That's a Sphinx looks nothing like one.
To Moi it looks like he has those British long Judges Wigs on.
The outlook of the face ect., looks nothing like an Egyptian Sphinx.

A Sphinx represents Egyptian culture be doing
on British or Scottish Badges? just an observation.

The Sphinx is a battlehonour from the Egyptian campaign when the predecessors of the Black Watch gave Napoleon's French troops a good hiding.

In 1908 the newly formed Territorial Bns of the Black Watch had badges made without the sphinx on them as they did not posess that battlehonour of the the Regular Bn as they ahd not fought in Eqypt.

Something I didn't know Mr. Alan O, concerning the Sphinx on the Badges. whoever on The Montreal 42nd Highlanders C.E.F. it has the Sphinx not on 13th BATT., badge.
