I think that what Andy was saying is that the Foot Guards did not wear the same pattern peakless forage cap as the rest of the Army, or indeed the RMA and RMLI. In that statement he is entirely correct, so I don’t see the point in posting a green face with rictus grin. It’s hardly a very grown up response to the accurate point he was making. All the photos that I posted, including four of the Grenadier Guards, show Foot Guards pattern caps, worn by no others.

Good heavens, really, all I see is a forage cap withdrawn during the same period of time, why exactly, unless for the same reasons?

Yes that’s quite a common photo when searching Griff, it apparently shows four brothers, and is transitional, with the two Rifle Brigade soldiers in the new 1905 peaked forage cap, with another brother in the previous, general service pattern forage cap (worn by most others less Guards), and the last brother, a Grenadier, wearing the Foot Guards pattern forage cap. It’s an interesting snapshot in time, I agree.
