Default Shipping from Ca to UK

Hiya everyone,

Can someone enlighten me on the cost of shipping from Canada to the UK ??

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Canadian-C...item23279d0041

As I'm wanting to bid on this item, .......... but !! $35.00 (£22.24) seems a little bit steep to say the least for a shipping charge.

I havn't had this problem before when buying items from the Canadians, so why for this item ?

Is it a sellers "PREMIUM TAX" on the item to ensure he gets his monies worth out of me ??

Cheers for any comebacks on this

C$6.00 is about the most I have ever paid, seems to be about average for a single badge from Canada to the UK.

I don't think this seller is being reasonable here. He charges $3.00 for a button.

????? I must have missed something. His shipping shows to $3.00 not $35.00.

The link is to a CEF 28th Bn numeral correct?? C over 28?

Also states surface mail. The slow boat across the pond. I have shipped plenty of badges to the UK in a padded envelope and as previously reported $6.00 is fair with postage and cost of envelope. Best of luck, reputable dealer if that is of any help.

Question the seller. Cost is $5.20 (about 3 quid) for Canada Post "Light Packet Air" or $9.00 for "Small Packet " with $100 insurance.

Depending on how the item is listed, the postage is calculated automatically by the computer. This is based on the location of the purchaser. Sounds like the case here. I am seeing $3 to my location, but if he input certain data in the listing the amount will be calculated by type of shipping to that location. Perhaps an email to the vendor will get a different rate?

Default Shipping Cost

I agree with Bill. Contact the seller before bidding. This will clear things up. Ebay's shipping system is not accurate, but with that in mind Canada Post is very expensive and their rates just went up.

Canada Post's rates for registered/tracked packages to the UK are about CDN $30.00 minimum. There is a new rate effective 11 Feb. I just had a rather unpleasant experience with Canada Post since the new service was on their web site, but the staff at the main post office here knew nothing about it.
The best thing to do is check Canada Post's web site and see what the options are.

I just sent off on Jan 30 a medal via Small Pkt Air post to UK - cost was $5.20, arrived a week later Feb 5, no customs hassles or additional charges at his end.

We cannot send anything other than paper/documents via Registered Mail anymore in Canada, if you wish to send badge(s) or medal(s) via a secure method they have to go either X-Press or X-Pedited post, both which are trackable, & additional Insurance can be purchased. X-Ped post automatically comes with $100 Insurance. As Phil mentions both options can be expensive.

Thank you all for the replies, and Colin 17 for the kind offer, I've decided to opt for missing the Collar Badge, but will watch it through to the end, without bidding.

In my eyes I do not think i should have to ask about postage to anyone, I would expect this to be explained on the "Auction Page" so that i can make an informed choice before i bid.

I always read the small print so as to ensure that mistakes do not occur, on both sides.

(I do not believe that Canada Post are at fault here, but do correct me if I'm wrong please)

Whilst i'm on this subject, i'd like to explain why i watch items on ebay and "DO NOT" bid, which is in another thread on the forum.

I watch them because when i'm on my mobile phone (sitting in my truck) i see these items, I then click "Watch" and then when i have a bit more time i'll decide whether to bid or watch these items. In some cases I see items that i know are of interest to others on the forum, and want to see if my estimates are accurate or not, ....... I break even on most of my predictions if you're wondering.

Thank you all again

Ken (The Fatboy)

Default Shipping UK to Canada

Got a good one for you. I bought a red tunic at an auction a couple of days ago for 60 quid and their shipper wanted 115 quid to ship it here! I told him no way, I will work something out. Robbery.

Default Canada Post.

I am still waiting for a small package posted in Canada 4th Feb at a cost of 50 dollars trackable air mail. They have apologised for sending it Surface Mail in error , probably according to them via Greenland,Iceland, Ascension Islands, and in spite of the long delay and their error ,no claim could be made till April 4th. It eventually arrived in UK 25th March, and is now in Customs awaiting Customs clearance. I`m dreading what the final total cost will be.
My advice is beware..Canada post will get no more business with me. Once bitten etc,!
Rgards to all, George Davies.

Default Sending from Canada to UK

I'm not all that enamoured by Canada Post either, but I have sent pkgs
all over Canada & USA via XPedited post & XPress post & have never had a problem.

I also send to UK but only via XPedited Air post. This method is trackable.
I sent off a large pkg via this method on 15 March to a collector over in UK & he confirmed it arrived mid last week. He had no problems with customs on the UK side.

As I mentioned in an earlier post in this topic both XPress & XPedited post can be expensive for overseas destinations.
