There is guy on another site who makes the masks and leather helmets. he marks and sells these as repros and builds in differences so people are not deceived.
He trades on facebook as World War One-offs Reproductions and charges £70. Based in Marlborough. He also makes WWII RAF & Lwaffe life jackets etc. Clever bloke. Regards Steve |

A relative of mine makes them as well with the same safeguards in place regarding marking them. He also charges around £70 I believe.
He is on facebook https://www.facebook.com/makinghistoryAD43/ He also makes repro leather webbing and so if you do reenactment. Michael |

Saw that tank mask (on dog!) posting...about time someone did that!
There is also someone doing the same concerning all the supposed SOE items, most of which are total KRAP and some downright dangerous, 'SOE GARROTTES' which I report if I see....for whatever good it does. |

I think the ebay dog in mask has been posted by Chris Pollendine, author of Campaign 1914, and Campaign 1915, books on British Great War equipment. Regards, Paul.

It is Chris who has listed the dog with the mask. There is also another chap debunking the rare WW1 aircraft material that apparently came from an old museum on the Menin Road and appears with regular frequency on eBay and now in some auction houses.

Someone having a go at the 'bullet through coin' sellers too:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Very-rare...EAAOSwnpZeuR9F The vast majority of the population must have no idea what happens to a normal bullet when it hits a hard surface, full metal jacket or not.

Its online scamming in a way, instead of sending an email you post on eBay, you hit on enough potential victims then sooner or later, amongst the thousands that you try it on with, someone bites.
It just takes one gullible person out of hundreds of thousands and you're quids in. Utterly contemptible. |

No, I took one look and dismissed the whole thing, life's too short to read through what appear to be dishonest sales pitches, presumably the earlier posts refering to items for sale on eBay may have given a clue if those sales were of similar vein, but those items have been deleted from the 'bay.
My comment still stands, there are innumerable con artists on eBay. |

The spurious items such a cartridge case with a penny thro it, etc are as a result of members of another group I belong to 'Military fakes and forgeries' frustration with E bays failure to do nothing after numerous complaints that the same sellers were regularly posting fakes for sale on their auction site.
It was some ones way of pointing out on that site that items are not kosher which is why they are obviously absurd such as WWI plane marking on DPM fabric etc. The museum on the menin road which was a cafe' that shut down and a tool shed appear regularly. Steve M |

Steve M,
Is that Military Fakes and Forgeries a closed group? I have heard of it via the Great War Forum indirectly. regards Mark |
