Hi gents,
My version is 64mm x 47mm ?? I have seen one with a larger QVC crown and I will be after that one when the time is right, although not generally recorded, I think there are more different sized KRRC badges than most other regiments, trying to keep on top of them can be quite frustrating ?? I am also sure that I read somewhere that this model has a red backed center which would explain the tabs on your badge Simon, a nice one and I like it ?? Dave,

Simon,
this one does not appear in any of the books I have, I suspect it is a c.1882-1901 Glengarry (?) and was probably replaced sometime during that period (1898?) by the smaller QVC pattern! Like most badges there are "Fakes" and I've shown what I believe a fake next to the smaller pattern, it is non-voided and has the narrow neck to the crown as on the "Genuine" larger pattern badge, fakers error? Picture 1 - 1874-1881 Glengarry (KK 522) and Large T-E-K (46 x 65 mm). Picture 2 - 3 examples of 1898 pattern QVC (47 x 32 mm, with the red backed badge a touch smaller 45 x 30 mm). Picture 3 - Large T-E-K (1882-98?), smaller 1898 and tiny FSC? (could be Militia has there are to honours to the arms? 28 x 18 mm). Picture 4 - 1898 pattern next to a fake? Andy |

Before anyone asks, the Gilt (KK 673) is one of those collecting mysteries, I know it should be blackened however there's not even the slightest trace of there ever having been a black finish?
